We hold a registration day at the beginning of each new dance
year in the fall. Interested students should contact the studio for more
information. We will also accept students throughout the dance year.
We welcome all new students of all ages and ability levels anytime during the dance year. If you are
interested in learning more about our studio, we ask that you call us to arrange an appointment
and placement class for you or your student. Once we have assessed the student, we can place him or her
in the classes that will best suit the students instructional needs.
Whether a student dances for fun, recreation, and health, or is
interested in a possible career in dance, we welcome all students
at the Northeast Academy of Dance. We have a very nurturing and
supportive environment for the young and/or beginning dancer. We
enjoy watching a student's ability blossom through excellent dance
instruction which emphasizes proper body alignment and technique. We
love teaching students of all ages and ability levels. Students have the
opportunity to participate in performances annually. While many
students start out taking dance for fun, often their love of the art
grows and they end out becoming serious about dance.
We are a professional school of dance. We have prepared numerous dancers for
careers in dance. Students have been accepted for the American Ballet Theatre and
School of American Ballet summer programs, as well as the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis
School at ABT, the National Ballet School of Canada in Toronto, the Royal Danish Ballet,
the Sarasota Ballet, Ballet Memphis, Richmond Ballet, Houston Ballet II, Grand Valley
State University, and Signature Dance Ensemble. College placements have included The
University of Michigan, Western Michigan University, Central Michigan University, Hope
College, Oakland University, Alma College, University of Nevada Las Vegas, and the
University of Ohio Akron.
Our instructors are Giuseppe Canale, and Scott Heinrich. For our instructors biographical sketches, please
see our "About Our Faculty" page.
The foundation of most dance styles is ballet. Therefore, our main focus is to provide a solid foundation
in ballet technique. We also teach jazz, pointe, and modern dance.
Occasionally, we also explore other
styles of dance for our performances.
Like most studios, we do not have a full schedule during the summer. We hold limited classes,
a Summer Intensive, private lessons
and coaching during the summer months. Please contact us if you are interested in these opportunities.
